October Social Media Calendar

October is here!

Autumn is setting in and pumpkin spice is in the air, but some social media managers may need last-minute October content ideas before they can enjoy the crisp leaves falling!

Adding key dates to your October social media calendar should inspire some creativity, but we’ll go one step further and offer some ideas of our own.

*WARNING*

It may be last-minute planning, but still, take the time to make sure these ideas align with your values.

Always remember to keep your content relevant to your brand.

The Calendar:

October 1

National Coffee Day

For the cafes, coffee houses and coffee brands out there, this is a perfect opportunity to showcase your favourite coffee orders and your coffee art!

October 1

World Vegetarian Day

Do your vegetarian coworkers have fun lunch orders?

Perhaps try the fun Rating trend on them.

Show respect for food preferences by showing veggie options on your menu – go one step further and film a veggie cooking class for your viewers!

October 4

National Taco Day

What a perfect day to convince the office manager to order everyone tacos! Take good photos for Instagram or yummy videos for TikTok and then stuff your faces afterwards!

October 10

World Mental Health Day

Brands worldwide will use this day to add their voice to mental health advocacy.

Our advice when participating in these social media events is to make sure you’re not just posting for the sake of posting.

Be genuine and have the values you talk about on this day reflected in your company values all year round.

Audiences will see through your posts if it’s not genuine.

October 13

World Sight Day

TikTok’s audience generally champions accessibility.

Videos get called out for not using captions properly for the hearing impaired, and as this day is recognised every year, it’s time to create specially tailored content for those with sight issues and incorporate these features into content going forward.

October 30th

National Checklist Day

Do you struggle with getting stuff done? Someone tells you to do something but your mind gets distracted by a funny TikTok or that pile of washing you’ve been meaning to do for a few days, now?

Checklists are SO handy! We love checking things off.

Share a checklist for your audience, perhaps a guide on how to do something!

October 31st

Halloween

Autumn AKA Spooky Season!!

Content ideas should be screaming at you (like us when we watch horror films)

  • Document your coworker’s best Halloween costumes!
  • Get your coworkers to react to scary movies!
  • Film yourself pranking your coworkers by scaring them!
  • What are your favourite scary movies?

There are SO many angles to take!

We can’t wait to convince our manager to let us do office pumpkin carving!

I know we’re all waiting for Halloween, but be prepared for all the other cool key days for your October social media calendar!
