TikTok Marketing Strategy

Are you looking to incorporate a TikTok marketing strategy into your 2023 social media strategy?

You can’t deny TikTok’s influence on pop culture. Unholy by Sam Smith is a HUGE pop hit and that’s down to the TikTok videos using it going viral!

Similarly, prices skyrocketed for the Coco Cosmetics by Chloe marshmallow sponge once TikTok got a hold of it and popular creators used it in their Get Ready With Me style TikToks!

So how can you as a brand, creator or business benefit from a TikTok marketing strategy?

What Is TikTok Marketing?

As a brand, you should be able to see the benefits of the marketing efforts in the above TikToks.

If your audience is on TikTok then you can increase brand awareness and exposure on the app, potentially leading to an increase in sales through the “TikTok made me buy it” phenomenon.

TikTok Made Me Buy It

In every niche, you’ll find product recommendations, whether it’s a beauty product going viral, hair care advice or home gadget recommendations.

You may have been in a bookshop recently and seen a section dedicated to ‘TikTok May Me Buy It’ or ‘BookTok’ as the community is called.

Just getting into this space in your strategy would be well worth your time.

Getting Started – TikTokForBusiness

Make your TikTokForBusiness account.

You can turn your normal TikTok account into a business one easily through your settings.

This business account gives you more features, and the biggest benefit is tracking your analytics.

For any marketing strategy, you’re going to need to track your progress/effectiveness.

TikTok’s analytics tool allows you to see your Engagement (Video views, profile views, likes, comments, shares), Followers and LIVE metrics, so you can know exactly how well your content is doing.

TikTok Ads

TikTok is rife for organic social media marketing success.

However, you may have the budget to fast-track your brand exposure by running TikTok ads.

As a TikTok Ads Agency, we know that the targeting may not be as refined as Facebook’s, but for a social media app as new as TikTok, you can still run ad campaigns and refine your objectives.

We suggest having a look for yourself and figuring out what works as a TikTok ad.

Our biggest advice is to make TikToks, not ads.

How To Create A TikTok Strategy

Social media is a rapidly changing industry.

TikTok is no different, and especially because it’s still in its infancy, the algorithm is prone to change.

TikTok is a new social media, in that authenticity is pished and people won’t like being sold to.

The first step is to use TikTok.

You need to use the app to understand how to make authentic content that integrates with all the other TikToks.

You’re building a community, not posting a curated image as you would on Instagram.

As you’re looking through TikTok, nail down your niche.

Say you sell vacuums. Are you going to give cleaning tips? Are you going to show montages of satisfying cleaning videos?

Your industry doesn’t cut it on TikTok, you need to niche it way down.

Then, you need to know your target audience.

Look at TikTok’s demographics, and even though younger people are all over the app, there is an older audience there, too.

Create your personas like you would for any other marketing strategy.

TikTok’s unofficial slogan is ‘consistency is key.’

A higher volume of posts will give you more chances to get noticed, but that’s not feasible for every business.

It doesn’t matter if you can’t post every single day, what you should focus on is posting the same amount every week.

Is it every other day? 3 times a week?

Whatever your capacity, you should stick to it!

Plan out your reactive vs proactive content.

Reactive videos are easier, you lipsync to audio and type out a caption, but proactive content is original, valuable content.

It could be tips videos, montages, or Day-in-the-life videos. They usually take longer to create.

How to find topics for your original content?

Search the things you think people in your community/niche would be searching for on TikTok, see what videos are being made, and think of how you can fit into this search term.

If you’re a vacuum company and people are searching ‘New hoover recommendations’ then you know what video you should create!

I can see the hook now, ‘Top 3 hoovers on the market!’

Once you’ve nailed how you can be valuable to your potential audience, the ideas will flow!
