Watch the replay and check out our summary below.

Our Key Takeaways:

Know your audience

A key component of TikTok SEO is understanding who your audience is and what they enjoy on TikTok when optimising your content as you need a target Tok.

Otherwise, it is pointless as TikTok won’t recognise where your content sits and how to rank it.

This will enable you to create the right content that resonates with them.

The more interaction your videos receive, the higher TikTok will rank in the search results.

Undertake keyword search

Perform keyword research integrating popular Google keywords relevant to your niche into content using tools like SEMrush and Google Ads Keyword Planner to gather data.

Then, enter the keywords you’ve gathered from your research into TikTok, and the platform will automatically suggest related keywords and hashtags.

This technique can also increase the number of search results that your TikTok videos appear in, both on TikTok and Google.

Incorporate these findings into your video titles, captions, descriptions, and hashtags to enhance the discoverability of your content.

Creative and engaging content is key

Your SEO strategy won’t matter if your video isn’t engaging and performing well with your audience.

It’s about talking to the right people but also keeping them engaged so they continue interacting with your videos.

It’s a long term play

This is not something that happens over night.

It can take days, weeks or months to see your videos ranking on TikTok.

Your video could have low views and engagement one day then it’s suddenly taking off in the TikTok algorithm.

Focus on producing engaging content and its performance and you will eventually see results.

Focus on content that will rank

If you try and rank for everything on TikTok – you’ll most likely rank for nothing.

Therefore it’s important that you don’t try and get all your content to rank for certain topics.

Pick out target keywords that are important to your brand and take a proportion of what you’re doing on TikTok to optimise for that video.

Be strategic with what you’re focusing on and let your other content do some of the heavy lifting.

Track your performance with TikTok analytics

Tracking your TikTok analytics is an effective way to know if your SEO is working.

You’ll gain insight on which videos are trending/ranking, how much interaction and engagement they’re receiving and more.

Additionally, it may assist you in identifying areas for improvement, such as keywords or topics that may not appear to be connecting with your audience.

If TikTok is recommending a search term in the search bar section, it’s a good indication it’s related to the Tok you’re sitting in.

Consistency matters

Regularly posting content can improve your chances of appearing in search results.

TikTok’s algorithm favours accounts that consistently produce content.

The importance of consistency also applies to the content topic you are posting about.

The more you post about ‘TikTok Tips’ (for example) the more the algorithm will understand where to place your content.

Bonus tip

Include your TikTok video in a microblog on your website!

Blogging is crucial for Google search rankings as it prioritises fresh, relevant content.

To boost TikTok SEO, create microblog posts related to your videos.

Use keywords in the title, subheadings, and content, and embed your TikTok video for added engagement.
