It’s hard to stay up to date with all the news but we have put together 10 TikTok updates that you might have missed in the month of April:

📜 President Joe Biden officially signed the proposed TikTok sell-off bill

TikTok has 270 days to be sold off to a U.S.-based entity.

So if they fail to do this, the platform faces a ban in the country.

🛍️ TikTok Shop launched new ‘Preowned Luxury’ category

This allows users to explore and buy authentic luxury fashion directly within the app.

Luxe Collective Fashion were 1 of the 5 brands invited to join the launch of Pre-Loved Luxury on TikTok Shop UK.

🎶 TikTok returns as the Official Entertainment Partner of 2024 Eurovision song contest

With more than 589k posts tagged with #Eurovision already, 2024 will foster an even stronger connection between the community and the contest.

📲 TikTok appears to be nearing the launch of its long-awaited photo app

This has been in development for some time.

Reports suggest that it might have a new, official name ready for its debut, “TikTok Notes”. 

💸 TikTok launched $2.1 million advertising campaign to fight back against potential U.S. ban 

TikTok has aimed to highlight the advantages that TikTok offers to its users in the United States.

🎟️ TikTok introduced a new global partnership with ticketing platform AXS

This partnership facilitates seamless ticket purchasing for users directly within the app.

It also offers artists additional avenues to promote their upcoming shows.

💬 TikTok is considering the possibility of enabling brands to create AI bots to pitch their products

It’s said to be developing a feature that would allow brands to utilise virtual influencers.

These digital personalities could then promote and sell products through videos and live streams within the app.

🎤 TikTok hosted its first LIVE music pop-up event

The TikTok LIVE music event took place April 24th and 25th at London’s Kings Cross. The two-day event was streamed on TikTok LIVE and featured special guest artists.

👫 TikTok is testing new AI-Moji digital avatars

TikTok is experimenting with yet another AI integration, as certain users are now being invited to test “AI-moji”.

This feature allows users to scan their faces to generate cartoonish avatars for personalised stickers within the app.

🔍 TikTok has included Wikipedia links for certain celebrities and public figures

When searching for a public figure on TikTok, you can now go and check out their Wikipedia pages directly from the search results, all without having to leave the app.
