As a TikTok agency, we are often asked questions on various TikTok topics and how brands can navigate the platform successfully and reach your target audience.
You asked, we answered!
Here are our most FAQs: frequently asked questions from our recent How To Find The Right Tok webinar, to help your brand find the right target audience on TikTok.
How do you identify a list of Tok’s to discover what might be relevant to your brand?
Start by using your target audience’s interests and what they are interacting with on TikTok to help guide you.
Build a few customer personas and identify overlapping interests that your brand has the licence to talk about.
Additionally, use TikTok to search for other brands in your industry and start interacting with their content to train the algorithm.
If one of your videos pops up but it’s not necessarily related to the main Tok you want to be known for, what do you do?
This is a long term play, so don’t let the placement of one or a few videos derail you.
Continue to post content for your target audience to train the TikTok algorithm that this is the Tok you want to be sitting in, to eventually land yourself in the right ‘Tok’ for your brand.
How would you recommend gaining traction and pushing out creative content for the more boring clients that are required to be taken seriously?
Learn on TikTok is massive on the platform. While you may be more likely to see a higher percentage of funny and unhinged videos, there is absolutely a place for informational and useful content.
Focus your TikTok strategy on being the expert in your niche and give your audience valuable information they can use in their daily lives.
Lastly, test and learn is a key way to establish what types of topics work best for your client. Test, test, test until you find what lands!
Do you have any tips for brainstorming content?
When all else fails, start by following brands and creators in your industry/niche and take inspiration from them.
Trends are also a great place to begin, what trends have you seen that may fit into your brand’s content style and niche.
What new features have been introduced within the app that you could incorporate into your content and relate it to your brand.
How do you get around using trending sounds/music on a business account?
If you are a business account, you are very limited and more restricted to what you can use trend wise due to copyright issues.
If your account is set up as a business account, first consider if this is necessary.
It could be that of your key objectives is focused on growth rather than anything paid, if so you want the autonomy of these trending sounds until you reach the point you want to switch to a business account.
With that in mind, if a creator account is off the table, sometimes users remake trending sounds for business accounts which may take a bit of digging but they are there.
However, take this restriction as a challenge to think of more original content that can set you apart from others on the platform as trends should not be the majority of your TikTok content strategy.
As a new account on TikTok, how much would you recommend posting per week?
This can be as little as 3 times a week if that’s all your brand has the resources for.
As long as you stay consistent, produce engaging content, and don’t let the account go stagnant you have a chance at real growth on the platform as this helps to train the TikTok algorithm.
Test optimal posting times to reveal patterns and analyse when your target audience is the most engaged.
Where do you start with TikTok SEO? What do you need to do?
TikTok SEO is still a working progress within TikTok.
Start by analysing your Google Keywords and those you rank for as a brand.
We typically find that search behaviour on TikTok mirrors that of Google and any long tail keywords you rank for currently can help you inform your TikTok strategy.
Additionally, use the keyword search on TikTok in the search bar, to see what other people are searching for in your niche and basing your content around that.
After this research, integrate some of these keywords into your titles, captions, descriptions to push your video to reach users who have searched these key terms before, as this will help the videos rank for these high volume search terms.
Does editing in the app make a difference to the algorithms?
We recommended adding as much text as possible within TikTok to help with your TikTok SEO.
While CapCut, which is linked to TikTok, offers a more dynamic editing service, it is beneficial to take a hybrid approach when it comes to editing.
For example, adding your titles in CapCut but your captions in-app to allow TikTok to pick up whatever is in the title, captions, descriptions, and hashtags.
As long as you are giving TikTok something so it can understand what the video is about which aligns with the rest of the video, you can really give your content a much better chance to cut-through to the people you want to see it.
Can you have two ‘Toks’ if they are both relevant to your brand?
We would recommend when starting on TikTok from scratch, that you stick with just 1 Tok, making this your main focus.
This helps to train the algorithm at a faster pace than if you were to try to appeal to multiple audiences, or Tok’s, at the same time.
Once you have established an audience/presence, you can then start to introduce other content relating to other Tok’s slowly, and diversify your content.
