How To Go Viral On TikTok
As a TikTok agency we know that going viral is on everyone’s minds when uploading TikToks. Brands mostly utilise TikTok for brand awareness and exposure, so going viral seems like a good goal.
But It’s Not.
Going viral for the wrong reasons, like jumping on a trend that has nothing to do with your business, could mean creating a following of people that aren’t interested in your usual content, and thus drop off when you create the content you actually want to be known for.
TikTok will then think people don’t want to see your videos, and you’ll no longer be pushed onto anyone’s For You Page.
So, ignore your ‘How To Go Viral?’ dilemma.
Here are a few easy tips you can weave into all of your content, to improve engagement on the right content:
Hook
The hook is the first 3-5 seconds of your video and it’s what most viewers use to determine if they’ll keep watching or keep scrolling. Here are our favourite hooks to try out:
- The Perfect (x) Doesn’t Exist
- “3 Reasons Why I Love (x)”
- “Want (x)? Then stop scrolling”
- “5 Tips to get rid of (x)”
- “If you’re not doing (x) you’re missing out”
- “Why is nobody talking about this (product)”
We love this example:
Call To Action
Call to action is usually at the end of videos, in the caption or in the comment section.
They give your audience an action that improves engagement.
This could be:
- Like for part 2!
- Comment if you agree!
- Share to a friend who can relate!
- Ask them questions/their opinion on topics and you’ll find a discussion in your comment section!

Succinct Script
Why say it in 2 minutes when you can say it in 30 seconds?
TikTok is notorious for facilitating short attention spans.
Users go to TikTok for short-form video content, and short videos are what they expect.
Make sure to say what you want to say as clearly as possible and as quickly as possible to keep
your viewers engaged.
Taking too long means they’ll drop off before you’ve reached your point.
Respond to your community
When you get a comment, make sure to reply to it, no matter how late.
Responding means bringing people back to your video to watch it again, and also more comments as they’re likely to respond to you.
Keeping it fun and polite means users will be more inclined to comment on other videos, too.
Responding to comments with videos is also a nice way to increase engagement because you can go into more detail, and build your community more as you provide more value and authenticity.
