TikTok has officially announced the launch of its new feature, ‘Share to TikTok,’ which allows users to seamlessly share music, podcasts, and audiobooks directly from Apple Music and Spotify.

This innovative feature is designed to enhance user engagement and promote content discovery across both platforms.

How ‘Share to TikTok’ Works

The ‘Share to TikTok’ feature enables users of music streaming services to share their favourite audio content in two primary ways:

  • Posting to the TikTok Feed: Users can share tracks, albums, playlists, and more directly to their TikTok Feed (including the For You Page and Stories) using popular features like the green screen or Photo Mode.
  • Direct Messaging (DMs): Users can send their favorite content via TikTok Messages to friends, who can then easily access the shared content on the original streaming service.

Each shared piece of content will include a link back to the original source on the streaming platform, driving further discovery and engagement.

Enhancing Music Discovery and Artist Promotion

The introduction of ‘Share to TikTok’ complements TikTok’s existing ‘Add to Music App’ feature, which allows users to save tracks they discover on TikTok directly to their preferred streaming services.

According to Ole Obermann, TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, this new feature represents a significant step in supporting music discovery and artist promotion.

“Since its launch, ‘Add To Music App’ has already facilitated hundreds of millions of track saves and billions of streams on our partner music streaming services,” Obermann stated. “’Share to TikTok’ takes the user experience full circle and will be an amazing way of promoting artists and tracks within the TikTok community.”

A Win-Win for Users and Creators

This integration not only enhances the user experience but also unlocks new avenues for creative expression.

Lindsey Kelt Zikry, Global Product Partnerships Lead at TikTok, emphasised that this feature allows creators to connect with their audiences more effectively while promoting artists, authors, and podcasters.

Implications for the Music Industry

The launch of ‘Share to TikTok’ comes at a time when TikTok is increasingly recognised as a powerful platform for music discovery.

Songs that trend on TikTok often find their way onto charts like the Billboard 100 or Spotify Viral 50.

By facilitating easier sharing of music content, TikTok is solidifying its role as a key player in the music industry.

With ‘Share to TikTok,’ users can now easily promote their favorite audio content while enhancing their engagement with the platform.

This feature not only benefits users but also provides artists with greater exposure and opportunities for connection with fans.

As TikTok continues to innovate in music promotion, it remains a vital tool for both creators and listeners alike.
